uShaka Sea World is a world-class marine theme park that provides a 'window' into the Western Indian Ocean. uShaka Sea World is home to a large and diverse collection of marine life, representative of our local seas. The spectacular aquarium, dolphin and seal stadiums and penguin rookery are open throughout the year to promote conservation awareness amongst guests, as they experience close contact with some of nature's most amazing marine creatures.

When in the aquarium – visit our amazing new Pop Up Tank. Imagine fish swimming over your head, just centimeters from your face and all around you! This is a perfect photo opportunity and will be a hit with young and old alike. This exhibit provides guests, particularly children, with an immersion experience and this exhibit is completely different to any of our other exhibits.

Earlier this month uShaka Sea World was once again awarded accreditation status by the African Association of Zoos and Aquariums (PAAZAB). PAAZAB is an internationally recognised organisation and a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. PAAZAB accreditation is the highest possible recognition that a living animal institution can achieve in Africa and not all institutions that apply for accreditation receive it. uShaka Sea World is the only accredited aquarium in Africa.

The accreditation award is an acknowledgement of excellence in the fields of veterinary care, animal husbandry, record keeping, exhibits, level of cleanliness, staff operations, operational procedures, health and safety as well as ethics. Prior to the award being made, a comprehensive audit was carried out by a team of professionals including scientists, conservationists and aquarium specialists.

The award was presented at the Gala Dinner of the 23rd Annual Conference of the African Association of Zoos and Aquaria (PAAZAB) in Oudtshoorn earlier this month.
